At Duke’s Great Bernese, responsible breeding is our top priority, and that means carefully selecting the right time to breed. We wait until our female dogs are fully mature — typically around 2 years old, after they've had their first heat. Bailey, our beautiful female, is now around 2 1/2 years old and well past the puppy stage. This will be her fourth heat, and she’s matured into the loving adult dog we knew she’d become.

Bailey’s temperament is truly amazing — she’s wonderful with people, great with other dogs, and has a natural, easygoing personality. We’ve worked hard to socialize her, exposing her to different places and situations to ensure she’s well-adjusted and confident. (Though, with the Arizona heat, we’ve had to cut back on the outings for now!)

As we move forward with our breeding program, you’ll be hearing a lot more about Bailey — she’s the heart of our breeding efforts, and we’re excited to share her journey with you.
